Movement
The movement, driven by a spring and a chain fusee, has a going train only. It has a verge escapement with an adjustable hairspring balance. The balance cock on the backplate is beautifully pierced and engraved depicting scroll motifs. Next to the balance is a silvered dial with a square for the regulation, while the other parts of the back plate are enriched with pierced ornaments. The maker has engraved the watch in elegant letters on the back plate: J. Hendr. Wiedeking Utrecht.

Dial
The white enamel dial has a Roman chapter ring with Arabic five-minute and minute divisions in a ring. The time is indicated by two pierced blued steel poker and beetle hands. The hinge which allows the movement to be turned out is situated at the top near the XII. The dial is signed by the maker in the middle: I.H. Wiedeking Utrecht. It is protected by a convex glass.

Case
The gold outer case has a very beautifully chased representation of ‘the sun god Apollo and the four seasons’ on the back, surrounded by scroll and floral vines. The plain gold inner case with the hallmark of the case maker LM can be opened at the front to turn the movement out. There is an aperture at the back in which the winding square is visible. The watch is surmounted by a moulded gold bow.
