STICKBAROMETER WITH A GOLD-LEAF                      COVERED WOODEN CASE

The register plate
The painted wooden register plate from this stick barometer has a black painted scale, divided in Parisian inches, running from 0 to 30, the part between 25 and 30 being subdivided in twelfths. Left and right of the divisions are the corresponding weather conditions from Tempete (27 ‘Storm’) via Variable (28) to Très Sec (29 ‘Very Dry’). The scales flank a centrally positioned Torricelli tube.

The case
The beautifully shaped fruitwood case has mouldings all around and is covered with gold leaf. The top and bottom are embellished by carvings in the shape of leaf motifs
