Movement
The day-going spring-driven movement has a going train and striking on demand. The going train has cylinder escapement with hairspring balance and regulation. The quarter striking repeat indicates the hours and the quarters on a gong. In addition, the clock has an alarm.

Dial
The silvered brass dial plate has a main dial and three subsidiary dials. The main chapter ring has Roman hour numerals with Arabic five-minute and minute divisions. The three dials beneath this ring indicate the day (left), the alarm time (middle) and the date (right). To the left is a thermometer with a register in Réamur and to the right a thermometer with a register in Fahrenheit. All hands are made of blued-steel. There is a moon-phase aperture in the arch. The maker has signed the dial under the subsidiary dials: Leroy & Fils, H.gers de la Marine, Palais Royal, 13 & 15 Gal.ie Montpensier Paris. The dial is protected by glass.

Case
The firegilt brass case has a shaped trefoil top and is surmounted by a suspension eye, behind which there is a button to activate the repeat striking. There is a hinged strut at the back to position the clock on a surface, as well as the winding holes and a regulation aperture with shutter. To indicate the direction of the adjustment the letters A and R (for Avance – faster and Retard – slower) are marked. In the middle is a hole marked ‘aiguilles’ (‘hands’) to set the clock.
