GOLD NECKLACE WATCH Ca. 1810
GOLD NECKLACE WATCH
The spring-driven, day going movement is constructed between two brass plates and has a going train with hairspring-balance escapement and regulation. It is wound with a key through the dial.
The enamel dial has an Arabic chapter ring with quarter-hour and minute divisions. The time is indicated by a pair of Breguet hands. The dial is protected by a beautifully enamelled cover.
This watch is an emblem of Love, having a round case which is surrounded by ornaments in the shape of a bow and arrow. This attribute is reflected in the front enamelled cover, which depicts Amor, the god of love, riding a flying butterfly and holding his bow in his hand. The picture has a blue translucent background and is surrounded by a pearl string. The blue translucent back cover depicts two flying doves, also set in a pearl-string rim. At the top are two eyes with a chain to attach the watch to a necklace.
