DUTCH MUSICAL BRACKET CLOCK
Bracket clock with brass plated movement with verge escapement and pendulum. Movement with ‘Dutch striking’, striking the hours on a large bell and the half hours on a small bell. Musical train plays every hour with 14 bells and 28 hammers one of the six adjustable tunes. The trains are driven by a springbarrel with fusee. Repeater for the striking and musical train.
The arched brass plate has a silvered chapter ring with engraved, black Roman numerals for the hour-indication, Arabic numerals for the five minute-indication and minute-stripes. Half hour indicator. The hour and minute hands are made of blued steel. In the matted centre the three holes for winding up and the date-aperture. In the arch the moonphases, the moondate and the six tunes; Scarremoes, Prins Eugenius Mars, Merleton, De Boonties, OvrToomse Weg, Malburgs Mars. Two small silvered chapter rings, ‘Strike/Silent’ for switching on or off the striking train and the right ‘speelen/niet speelen’ for the musical train.
The oak wood case of this musical bracket clock with bell-top is veneered with ebonised pearwood. The bell-top is decorated with brass pinnacles. The case is decorated with brass feet, handles and pinnacles.
