MINIATURE CARRIAGE CLOCK
Signed: Cartier Paris Londres
Circa 1910
Switzerland

Movement
This miniature clock  from Cartier Paris has a brass movement between plates and consists of a going train and repeat striking. The going train has Swiss lever escapement with horizontal balance and hairspring with regulation on a platform. By pressing a button on top of the clock the repeat striking is activated, sounding the hours on a gong and the quarter hours on two gongs. The clock is wound from the back with a key. Here is also a square to set the hands.

Dial
The circular white enamel dial has a Roman chapter ring with Arabic five-minute and minute divisions. The time is indicated by a pair of blued steel Breguet hands. The dial, which is signed by the famous jeweller CARTIER PARIS LONDRES, is protected by a convex glass set in silver bezel.

Case
The rectangular sterling silver case, which rests on silver bun feet, is beautifully engine-turned and covered in translucent royal blue enamel. The case can be opened at the rear side via a hinged silver door, which gives access to the winding square. It is surmounted by a silver oval carrying handle.
