WALL CLOCK
Signed: Par Brevet Griebel AParis
France 1813

Movement
The brass movement has a going train only, which has a verge escapement and adjustable balance. It is driven by a spring in a spring barrel, which is wound at the front.

Dial
The white enamel chapter ring with an engine-turned brass plate in the centre has Roman hour numerals and minute divisions. The winding hole is placed symmetrically in the dial. Under the XII there is a silver plaque with the signature Par Brevet Griebel A Paris, with an aperture for regulating the balance. The time is indicated by a fine pair of blued steel Breguet hands. The dial is protected by a convex glass set in a brass bezel.

Case
The patinated brass oval case is decorated at the top by an ormolu cast brass ornament in the shape of an angel and leafy vines. The top is surmounted by a suspension eye, with which the clock can be hung on the wall. Below the dial is an ormolu cast brass ornament in the shape of branches, leaves, berries and a laurel wreath with a bow for decoration. An oval engine-turned fire-gilt brass rim surrounds the whole for decoration.

Height 19 cm (including suspension eye 24 cm).
Width 14 cm.
