LANTERN CLOCK WITH QUARTER STRIKING

Movement
The weight-driven day-going three-train brass movement of this lantern clock has going and striking trains, constructed between vertical bars. The going train has a horizontal verge escapement, situated on the top plate and a short pendulum. The quarter striking indicates the hours on a lower-pitched bell and the quarters on a higher-pitched bell.

Dial
The brass dial has a chapter ring with Roman hour, half-hour, quarter-hour, Arabic five-minute and minute divisions. The time is indicated by a pair blued steel hands. The four corners are engraved with floral and vine motifs

Case
The brass case of this lantern clock is of typical form with two doors to the sides and a backplate with hoop and spikes. It is surmounted by two superimposed bells on a bell stand. There is a low pierced iron fret on the front. The top corners are embellished by turned brass finials, whilst the top bell has a similarly shaped finial. The bottom plate is embellished by drop finials
